Environmental Assessment

When construction of high-voltage powerlines, cell towers, or other emitters of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) is proposed, a reasonable assessment of the risks is needed to permit a proper balance regarding the project’s benefits, or perhaps to give recommendations regarding the conditions of construction. A significant majority of environmental assessments involving EMF-emitting projects have been based directly on scientific evidence from industry-controlled research and expert committees. Based on the peer-reviewed scientific literature we provide a perspective regarding potential human and environmental risks that is not generally provided in environmental assessments of proposed construction projects.
